Luca Bano2022 Plenary Sessions • 2023 Plenary Sessions • 2024 Plenary Sessions • 2025 PLENARY SESSIONSSince 2020, Dr. Bano has held the position of Director of the diagnostic, microbiology, and research laboratories for Treviso, Belluno, and Venice at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe). The IZSVe is an Italian public health authority responsible for prevention, control, research, and services in animal health and food safety. Dr. Bano graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Bologna in 2000. Since 2001, he has worked as a veterinary pathologist and bacteriologist at the Diagnostic and Microbiology Laboratory of Treviso, IZSVe. In 2005, he obtained a postgraduate degree in avian, rabbit, and wild animal pathology and technology from the University of Milan. He earned his PhD from the University of Milan in 2009, with his research focusing on poultry diseases caused by anaerobes, specifically Clostridiosis and intestinal spirochaetosis. As part of his doctoral studies, Dr. Bano conducted research on ulcerative enteritis at the Poultry Science Department of Auburn University, Alabama, in 2006. Since 2014, Dr. Bano has been a Diplomate of the European College of Poultry Veterinary Science. His primary research interests include emerging and re-emerging bacterial diseases in poultry and the issue of antimicrobial resistance, approached from a One Health perspective.
