Global Animal Health and Working in Development

 The Global Health Pathology Network (GHPN) which is part of the Davis-Thompson Foundation is offering a full-day seminar on tips for conducting animal health work in a developing country. The program will be led by two pathologists with extensive experience in working in resource-poor areas, and will include the following topics:

  • The World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and why you need to explore this huge repository of information before you buy your ticket!
  • Intercultural Communication Competence – how to measure what you have and enabling the bridging of gaps
  • Working through interpreters – how to avoid the pitfalls
  • Internet resources for more fully understanding the role of agriculture and livestock in your destination country
  • Adult Learning – conducting training in a non-powerpoint environment for enhanced connection and learning
  • Measuring the sustainability of your efforts
